My research focuses on the history of evangelicalism in the United States and transnationally, with a particular emphasis on gender and politics in conservative Christian cultures. In addition to book chapters and articles, I have published 'Providence Has Freed Our Hands': Women's Missions and the American Encounter with Japan (Syracuse University Press, 2008). Currently, I am working on a book manuscript examining conservative evangelicals engaged in American politics from the 1970s to the present. In addition, I am co-editing an anthology examining gender politics in the Southern Baptist Convention, the largest Protestant denomination in the United States.
