QTS Intro Course
This Tier Two course draws on a variety of texts and media to explore the ways in which sex, gender, and the body are not as "natural" as we generally assume, and are in fact "always already" shaped by technology. To bring these ideas into sharper focus, we will pay attention to the ways that boundaries between humans, animals, and machines are constructed, and how they are broken down.
Cross cultural history of the relationship of modern sexualities and the rise of capitalism, secularism, urbanization, imperialism, sexology, and sexual identity politics from the eighteenth century to the present.
